Abstract

Effective management plays a crucial role in achieving organizational goals through the efficient utilization of available resources. The Hawthorne studies, a significant research milestone in the history of management science, exemplify how a focus on human aspects can impact organizational productivity. In contemporary corporate organizations, two essential assets—human resources and other tangible resources—collectively drive success. To enhance productivity and adapt to the continually evolving digital landscape, organizations must gain insights into the work patterns and behaviors of their employees in the workplace. This review investigates the relevance of the Hawthorne studies in the digital era, emphasizing their implications for modern management practices. Additionally, the review explores how digitization has influenced management dynamics and how principles from the Hawthorne studies can be adapted to optimize workforce performance in the current context. Ultimately, this review advocates for a holistic management approach, integrating human elements with cutting-edge digital technology to foster a thriving and productive work environment in the contemporary era. Understanding the lessons from the Hawthorne studies in the context of digital transformation can empower organizations to realize their full potential and achieve sustainable success.
